Mike's Wedding in France

Mike Gorski's wedding was on September 13th. Andy Omen came to Dusseldorf from the states and then we drove about 4 hours to Lille, France to the wedding. Mike and Valerie live in a beautiful Chateau in a small town there. We were able to stay overnight at the chateau and help set up for the reception.

The wedding was wonderful! First we went to the courthouse where Mike and Valerie were officially married (this is mandatory in France) then we went to the church and they had a ceremony and blessing. It looked nice, it was all in French so i don't know what was said, but it seemed lovely. After this we went back to the Chateau for the reception. This was the best part. It started off with casual appitizers and a recieving line for Mike and Valerie. Then we moved to a beautiful room where we sat down for dinner. This was about 6pm and we had 4 more courses of food about every hour or hour and a half. The main dish was West Indies food because Valerie and all of her family are from Martinique. We also had cheeses and with cake there were French pastries.

This was such a great experience. I think you can learn the most from a culture by going to a wedding and a funeral. We were so happy to be able to share this time with Mike too. I don't think i have ever seen him so happy. Valerie is very beautiful and sweet. We didn't have alot of time to talk but i think Mike got a really great girl. He also inherited a wonderful family. He can't speak there language yet, but i can tell he really loves them and they love him too.
